April 21-24, 2008

Pete Wernick's 10th Annual Bluegrass Jam Camp at MerleFest is scheduled for April 21-24. It's open to all levels of players on all bluegrass instruments. The Camp will take place at the beautiful Herring Ridge Y camp in Boomer, NC just outside Wilkesboro. Accommodations/meal packages allow most campers to stay on site for the full four days.
More information at www.DrBanjo.com.

Basic requirements are only the ability to play rhythm for the following chords: G, C, D, A. Instrumental soloing and fast playing are not required or expected. Novices are welcome and learn to follow chord changes, pick out melodies, sing harmony, and learn the ground rules of bluegrass jamming with a lot of hands-on small group jamming. This year's camp will also have an Intermediate track for experienced jammers who want to upgrade their musicianship and band skills. Pete will be assisted by his wife, singer/guitarist Joan Wernick, and by multi-instrumentalists Scott Freeman and Steve Lewis. They will teach band dynamics, harmony singing, instrumental soloing skills, by forming small bands coached by the instructors.
